Then Moses Said

Then Moses Said

"Then Moses said, 'I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn. 'So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, 'Moses, Moses!'" And he said, "Here I am." Exodus 3:3-4

Sometimes it might feel like trying to get close to God is a lost cause and that there is no way we can have assurance of God's love for us individually, but from this passage we can see otherwise. When the Lord saw Moses merely looking in His direction before Moses even spoke to Him, God called him by name. You are not trying to seek God nearly as much as God is seeking after you.

"I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth; I did not say to the seed of Jacob, 'Seek Me in vain'; I, the Lord, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right." Isaiah 45:19 "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.'"Jeremiah 29:11-13

"Thus says the Lord who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you: 'Fear not, O Jacob My servant; and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.'" Isaiah 44:2 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

God is not trying to play games with you by telling you to seek Him when He doesn't have any interest in you. God is actively seeking after you. Before it even enters your heart to look toward Him God has already set up a burning bush to get your attention, and as long as there is a possibility that you will come to Him, that bush will not burn out. If you truly have God in your heart there is no reason to think you can't find Him, because before you had God in yours God had you in His. He has been calling out to you even before you thought to call out to Him, so trust His love for you and come to Him.
