Unfaithfully Yours

Unfaithfully Yours

Emily, my closest friend from high school was voted the one most likely to succeed at everything she did in life, but Emily wanted nothing more than to be happily married with a family of her own.

After high school graduation, Emily went on to medical school and attained her doctorate. She then connected with a great firm within a very prominent corporation. Emily traveled throughout several countries serving others who couldn't afford basic healthcare. Gaining the respect and adoration of all her colleagues, than continued excelling in everything that she did. Everything Emily ever wished for came to pass, except for her deepest unmet desire of having a family.

When life for Emily wasn't so busy we would spend some time talking about life's interesting little adventures. And although Emily often appeared content and satisfied with her life, I could always sense her great sadness and disappointment. And began giving up the hope of finding someone special to spend her life with. Within a year at Emily's firm she was transferred to another corporation in New York city, and within several months I received a phone call letting me know that she had met her soul mate. Emily was ecstatic, she described every detail about this man, that I could have sworn that I new him personally. Emily told me that they were getting married, and they did. Within a year she was pregnant with triplets and had her family. Finally, Emily had everything that she ever wanted.

Within several years of marriage, Emily discovered that her husband was unfaithful and her heart was broken. Their marriage quickly ended. And out anguish and disappointment, Emily considered marriage to be her worst mistake. She wondered why she couldn't see this coming? And felt confused, she began questioning Gods love and character. I listened to Emily for hours, while praying with her. She asked that question everyone asks when our world comes crashing down. “Why does God allow this?” '

I asked Emily if she was sexually intimate with her husband before marriage?” She paused for a moment, then said, 'well yes' but we intended on being married, and we did get married. 'Why, do you ask?” I told Emily that in many situations brokenness happens because we overlook what God's word tells us. “God has established what we can consider safe guards, if we practice his what is written in his word. 'No, it does not assure that bad things would never happen to us, but it does promise to guide us, and help us with making better choices by avoiding harmful people. And since everyone has freedom of choice, we need God's guidance in our life all the more.

I grew up with Emily, and she has always wanted to be married, she never patiently waited on God's timing. And after meeting a charming and handsome man who appeared nice and made her laugh, she became sexually intimate with him outside of marriage. Emily believed that their relationship was meant to be, so becoming sexually involved with him wouldn't matter, after all, they intended on being married. Emily was so happy and it felt right when they were together, but this man was never Emily's soul mate. 'He was Emily's choice.' And there is a difference. “Emily married an unfaithful man.” {Proverbs 25:28} tells us that like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control. 'If we cannot control our-self in the beginning, should we believe that marriage can change us and we will become faithful? After all, if were not faithful to God's commandments, then what makes us think that we can remain faithful to another human being?”

The Lord will never establish a marriage based on sin and fornication. Because desires godly people, godly marriage and godly offspring. {Malachi 2:13-15} Another thing you do: You flood the Lord's alter with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or receives them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit, they are his.

And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So, guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth. God's word makes it clear that anything which begins in sin only leads to death, and this was the end result of Emily's marriage. {Haggai 1:5} Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.
