Some people may try to be creative with the traditional Rosh Hashanah foods, but nothing quite replaces the perfect combination of apples and honey this time of year.
Apples and honey are very traditional for the civil new year and perfect for fall weather as well, and some Jews believe the apples may have some healing properties in addition to the sweet taste and hope for a sweet year ahead. Round challah bread is also traditional at this time, as some Jews believe it is representative of either the circle of life or the Crown of God, and the cyclical nature of time as well.

L’shanah tovah tikatev v’taihatem.
May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.
